Description
   
   Each cell comprising a multicellular organism constantly interacts with inasmuch a complex chemical milieu as the physical attributes of its immediate microenvironment. Cells are susceptible to alterations in the physical properties of their resident tissue but can also mechanically manipulate their immediate microenvironment. These mechanical interactions between cells and tissues dictate multiple responses of individual cells, the fate of entire organisms, and the onset of malignancies.
   The scope of this workshop is to approach the topic of cell-microenvironment mechanical interactions and the signalling events that dictate these interactions from an interdisciplinary perspective. We will present novel biophysical approaches and state-of-the-art biological analyses that reveal a cell's mechanical behaviour and signalling cascades controlling such responses, respectively, whereas with biomathematical models and intelligent approaches on image segmentation we will attempt to demonstrate cellular mechanoresponses still challenging for the conventional biology to assess.
